The clay is natural and never fired, so water simply reverses it. At the end of the festival the idol softens and settles in a bucket or wide tub within a few hours, and the clay that is left can be poured onto garden soil or into a plant pot. No river needed, which is the reason this kit suits a home in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or Ajman.

Painting is optional. Natural clay looks complete as it is, and many families leave their Ganpati unpainted. If you would like colour, wait until the idol is fully dry, then use turmeric, kumkum, geru or a water-based poster colour. Paint and brushes are not part of the kit.
