Brass Kalash (8cm) - Traditional Lota for Pooja & Festivals

Questions? WhatsApp or email us - we're happy to help with selection, usage, or care.

The Brass Kalash (8cm) is a compact handcrafted sacred vessel that sits at the heart of every Hindu pooja, symbolising prosperity, purity and auspicious beginnings. Made from premium brass and polished to a warm golden glow, it is topped with mango leaves and a coconut during rituals to complete the traditional kalash sthapana. This smaller size is ideal for home temples, daily pooja and compact mandirs.

The meaning of the Kalash

The kalash represents abundance and the source of life, and its sthapana (installation) is one of the first steps in many poojas and havans. Filled with water and crowned with mango leaves and a coconut, it is invoked as the seat of the deities and a symbol of good fortune entering the home.

How to set it up (Kalash Sthapana)

  1. Clean the kalash and place a Swastik with kumkum on the front if not already marked.
  2. Fill it with clean water (and a coin, supari or rice if your vidhi calls for it).
  3. Arrange five or seven mango leaves around the rim and rest a coconut on top.
  4. Keep it on a bed of rice on your altar for the duration of the pooja.

Specifications

  • Material: premium handcrafted brass with a polished golden finish
  • Size: approximately 8 cm tall with a 7.5 cm top rim
  • Design: handmade Swastik motif with kumkum
  • Use: kalash sthapana, daily pooja, festivals, home temple and ceremonies

Care

Empty and dry the kalash after use. Brass darkens naturally over time, so restore the shine occasionally with lemon and salt or a mild brass cleaner, then rinse and dry fully. Avoid harsh abrasives that can scratch the finish.

It stands approximately 8 cm tall with a 7.5 cm top rim, a compact size ideal for daily pooja and smaller mandirs. We also offer a larger 10 cm kalash.

Fill the kalash with clean water, mark a Swastik with kumkum, arrange mango leaves around the rim and place a coconut on top, then set it on a small bed of rice on your altar.
