The Divine Sansar Kuber Diya is a pair of pure brass oil lamps, 8 x 3 cm each, made for Kubera puja on Dhanteras, Diwali and every Thursday of the year. Each diya has a deep, polished bowl for ghee or til oil, a long spout that holds the wick steady and a hand-finished band of raised relief around the outside. You receive two diyas in a box, ready to light or to gift, delivered across the UAE.
Who is Kubera, and why light a Kuber Diya?
Kubera is the treasurer of the devas and the guardian of the north. In Hindu tradition he is the keeper of wealth, while Maa Lakshmi is the one who blesses a home with it, which is why the two are so often worshipped together.
A Kuber Diya, known in the South as Kubera Deepam or Kubera Vilakku, is the lamp lit for that prayer. Families light it on Dhanteras and during Lakshmi Kubera puja on Diwali night, and many keep a weekly practice of lighting it on Thursday evenings. It is a small, steady act of gratitude for what the household already has and an intention for what it hopes to build.

How to light your Kuber Diya
- Wipe the diya clean and place it on a steady plate or thali.
- Fill the bowl about two-thirds with ghee or til oil.

- Many families face the spout towards the north, Kubera's direction, or towards the deity.
- Light the wick and offer your prayer. Keep the diya in view and never leave a flame unattended.
Caring for brass
Let the diya cool fully, pour out any leftover oil and wash in warm soapy water. Brass naturally darkens over time. A paste of lemon juice and salt, or tamarind, rubbed gently and rinsed, brings back the shine before a festival. Dry completely before storing.
