Pure iron is reactive by nature, which is precisely why it carries the spiritual properties it does. It is not stainless steel and should not be treated like it.

• Wipe completely dry after every use, especially after Tilabhishekam
• Store in a dry pooja shelf, away from open kitchen humidity
• Apply a thin coat of mustard or sesame oil once a week to keep the surface seasoned
• A light patina or darkening over time is normal and traditional
• If light surface rust appears, wipe with a dry cloth and re-oil; the bowl remains fully usable
