This is a hand-painted clay karwa with a matching lid, made for Karwa Chauth and just as much at home on a Diwali pooja table. The pot stands 12 cm tall and 11.5 cm across, with an 8 cm mouth and a 9 cm clay lid that sits snugly on top. Choose the pot and lid on its own, or the set with two gold-rimmed clay diyas.

The body is natural terracotta, painted by hand with a green fan flower in yellow and white, feather-stroke motifs, a gold-painted rim and a double band of silver rhinestones around the neck. A woven red and silver trim runs around the lower belly. Because every piece is painted by hand, the pattern varies slightly from pot to pot.

What you get

  • Pot + Lid (AED 30): one hand-painted clay karwa, 12 cm tall, with its plain terracotta lid.
  • Pot + Lid + 2 Diyas (AED 35): the same karwa and lid, plus two red clay diyas with raised gold floral rims, so the whole moonrise setup matches.

Each set ships in a plain protective box.

How the karwa is used on Karwa Chauth

The karwa is the small earthen pot the festival is named after. On the day, it is filled with water and kept beside the Karwa Mata image through the evening katha, and many families pass karwas around the circle as the story is read. The lid is traditionally topped with a few sweets, rice or dry fruit.

After moonrise, the water from the karwa is offered as arghya to the moon before the fast is broken. Many karwas carry a small spout; this one is a lidded, spoutless design, so the arghya is poured from its wide gold rim.

If you are putting together the full thali, our Karwa Chauth collection has the vrat pooja box, shringar and thali sets in one place, and our Karwa Chauth guide walks through the vidhi step by step.

For Diwali and beyond

Once Karwa Chauth is done, the same pot moves easily to Diwali. Fill it with kheel and batashe or rice for Lakshmi puja, set it in the home mandir, or use it with the two diyas as a small table centrepiece. It also makes a thoughtful suhaag gift for a sister, bhabhi or friend keeping her first Karwa Chauth.

Karwa Chauth in the UAE

Karwa Chauth falls on Thursday 29 October 2026. In Dubai, the moon is expected to rise at about 8:29 PM, and families across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman gather on balconies, rooftops and community lawns to catch that first sight of it. With a karwa ready in advance, the evening is about the prayer rather than a last-minute search.

We deliver across the UAE, and delivery is free on orders from AED 30, so both sets qualify on their own.

Caring for your karwa

  • The paint and rhinestone band are on the outside only. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth and avoid soaking the pot.
  • Empty and air-dry it after use so the terracotta does not stay damp.
  • This is a pooja and decor piece, not cookware. Do not heat it or use it in a microwave or dishwasher.

Frequently asked questions

What size is this clay karwa?

The pot is 12 cm tall and 11.5 cm at its widest, with an 8 cm mouth. The lid is 9 cm across and rests on the rim.

Does the karwa have a spout?

No. It is a lidded, spoutless karwa, so you pour the arghya water straight from the rim. If your family tradition calls for a spouted karwa, this one works better as the decorated pot on the thali.

Which diyas come in the AED 35 set?

Two red clay diyas with raised gold floral rims, the same ones shown in the set photo. They take a cotton wick and ghee or oil.

Can I keep water in it for the whole evening?

Yes, it holds water comfortably through the katha and moonrise. Just empty it afterwards and let it dry, rather than storing water in it for days.

Is it only for Karwa Chauth?

Not at all. It works for Diwali and Lakshmi puja, as a small kalash-style pot in the home mandir, and as festive decor year round.

Will my pot look exactly like the photos?

Very close. Each karwa is painted by hand, so small differences in brushwork and colour are part of its charm.

Is delivery free in the UAE?

Yes. Delivery is free across the UAE on orders from AED 30, and both options are priced at AED 30 or above.
