Chandan Kesar Powder is the most respected tilak blend in Hindu ritual. Pure white sandalwood (chandan) ground fine and mixed with premium saffron (kesar), this powder produces the cooling, fragrant tilak paste applied to deities, yantras and devotees during daily aarti, festival pooja and major Hindu ceremonies. Divine Sansar offers it in two sizes: a 10g pack for occasional use and a 100g pack for households and pandits running daily pooja.
The cooling sandalwood combined with the warm, regal saffron is considered especially auspicious in Vishnu, Krishna, Hanuman, Lakshmi and Shani Dev worship, and the powder features in nearly every traditional Hindu festival from Navratri and Diwali to Janmashtami, Karwa Chauth and Holi.

Spiritual Significance
Sandalwood (chandan) is associated with purity, devotion and cooling devotional energy. Saffron (kesar) is the colour of fire, sacrifice and renunciation in Hindu tradition, and is among the most expensive ingredients in the pooja shelf. Combined, chandan kesar produces a tilak paste that is believed to cool the mind, anchor concentration during prayer, and please any deity it is offered to.
Chandan kesar is used in:
- Daily morning and evening aarti
- Tilak on Vishnu, Krishna, Lakshmi, Hanuman, Shani and Navagraha idols and yantras
- Sankalpa tilak applied to the devotee's forehead before starting any ritual
- Navratri kanjak pooja and goddess worship
- Janmashtami abhishekam and Krishna pooja
- Hanuman ji chola preparation in some traditions, mixed with sindoor
- Karwa Chauth tilak on the husband's forehead
- Holi and festive sandalwood preparations
- Wedding and ceremonial tilak rituals
- Grah Pravesh, mundan, upanayana and other samskara ceremonies
How to Prepare a Tilak Paste
1. Place a small pinch (around a quarter teaspoon) of Chandan Kesar Powder in a clean, dry tilak applier or a small bowl.
2. Add a few drops of clean water, rose water or gangajal and mix gently with the index finger or a small spoon.
3. The paste should be smooth and slightly damp, not runny. Add more powder or liquid as needed.
4. Apply with the ring finger or a tilak applier to the centre of the forehead, or to the deity's forehead during pooja.
5. Cover the unused powder and store it dry for the next pooja.
Why Devotees Across the UAE Choose This Blend
Real sandalwood and real saffron are both expensive to source, which is why low-quality chandan-kesar packs on the open market often blend in starches, talc or synthetic fragrance. Divine Sansar's powder is sourced specifically for pooja use, kept ritual-grade, and packed in our branded Divine Sansar pooja box. Available across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain with fast delivery.
This powder is included inside the Sampoorna Shani Dev Pooja Box and the Shani Dev Essentials Box, but most households run through it across other festivals too, which is why the 100g pack is the more economical choice for active pooja shelves.
Which Size Should I Buy?

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Chandan Kesar Powder used for?
It is the most widely used tilak blend in Hindu ritual. Mixed with water it produces a cooling, fragrant paste applied to deities, yantras and devotees during daily aarti, festival pooja and ceremonial worship.
How do I prepare a tilak paste from this powder?
Place a small pinch in a clean dish or tilak applier, add a few drops of water, rose water or gangajal, and mix gently into a smooth paste. The paste should be slightly damp, not runny.
Can I use this on idols and yantras?
Yes. Apply the tilak paste with the ring finger or a tilak applier to the centre of the deity's forehead, on the Shani yantra, or wherever the family pooja tradition calls for.
Is this real saffron and real sandalwood?
Yes. Divine Sansar sources ritual-grade chandan and kesar specifically for pooja use. The powder is not adulterated with starch, talc or synthetic fragrance.
Which size should I buy, 10g or 100g?
The 10g pack suits single rituals, occasional use and gifting. The 100g pack is the economical choice for households running daily pooja, multiple festivals across the year, pandits and temple volunteers.
How long does each pack last?
A 10g pack lasts most occasional users 4-8 rituals. A 100g pack lasts an active household around 6-9 months of daily aarti or several festival seasons of intensive use.

The saffron in the blend can leave a soft yellow-orange tint. The colour is mild and washes off skin and most fabrics with water and soap, but be careful around delicate cloth.
