  • Frame: Wooden frame in a warm golden finish.
  • Front: Clear shatterproof sheet, not glass. Lighter than glass and safe in a home with small children.
  • Placement: Hang on the wall or stand on a shelf. Both are supported.
  • Print: High-quality print with sharp detailing and rich, lasting colour.

About Lord Ayyappa

Lord Ayyappa, known also as Ayyappan, Sastha, Manikandan and Hariharaputra, is worshipped as the son of Shiva and Vishnu in the form of Mohini. His shrine at Sabarimala in Kerala draws millions of devotees each season, who climb the eighteen holy steps carrying the irumudi.

He is invoked for protection, discipline and inner steadiness. The Sabarimala season runs through Mandala Pooja and Makaravilakku, and devotees observe a forty-one day vratam before the pilgrimage.

Why families across UAE choose this frame

  • A4 is the practical pooja size: Large enough to be the focal point of a home mandir, compact enough for an apartment pooja shelf.
  • Hang or stand: Works on a mandir wall, a shelf, or a Mandala Pooja setup laid out on a table.
  • Shatterproof, not glass: Clear protection for the print with no risk of shattering in transit or at home.
  • For the vratam at home: A focal image for the forty-one days of observance when the pilgrimage itself is not possible.
  • Multi-purpose: Daily darshan, Mandala Pooja, Makaravilakku and Saturday worship.
  • Gift-ready: A meaningful gift for a devotee preparing for Sabarimala, or for a housewarming.

Where to place the frame at home (Vastu)

  • North-east corner of the home or mandir: The traditional zone for worship.
  • Facing east or north: Position so the worshipper faces east or north while praying.
  • Above eye level: Place the deity above the worshipper's natural sight line.
  • Avoid: South-facing walls, bathroom-adjacent walls and storerooms.

How to use

  1. Wipe the front sheet gently with a dry cloth before placing the frame.
  2. Hang it on the mandir wall, or rest it on your pooja shelf, facing east or north.
  3. Light a bronze or brass lamp, offer flowers and tulsi, and chant "Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa".
  4. During the vratam, keep the frame at the centre of your daily pooja for the forty-one days.
  5. Distribute prasad to the family and any guests present.

Care

  • Wipe the front sheet with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and rough sponges, which can scratch it.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight to preserve the print colour.
  • Avoid moisture and humidity. Do not hang it where rain spray can reach it.

Frequently asked questions

Who is shown in this frame?

Lord Ayyappa seated in blessing, with his tiger beside him and the eighteen holy steps of Sabarimala and the temple behind.

What size is the frame?

The A4 frame measures 21 x 30 cm. That is a comfortable focal size for a home mandir, a pooja shelf, or a mandir wall in an apartment.

Can I hang it on the wall or does it only stand?

Both. The frame is made to hang on a wall hook and also to stand on a flat shelf, so you can move it between your mandir wall and your pooja setup as needed.

Is the front glass?

No. It is a clear shatterproof sheet rather than glass. It protects the print just as clearly, keeps the frame light, and will not shatter, which matters both in transit and in a home with children.

What do the eighteen steps represent?

The pathinettam padi are the eighteen holy steps that lead to the sanctum at Sabarimala. Only a devotee carrying the irumudi after completing the vratam may climb them, and each step is understood to represent something the pilgrim leaves behind.

When is the Sabarimala season?

The main season runs through Mandala Pooja and Makaravilakku in the Malayalam months of Vrischikam and Makaram, roughly mid-November to mid-January. Saturdays are also traditionally observed for Ayyappa.

Does it make a good gift?

Yes. It is a meaningful gift for a devotee beginning the vratam, and for housewarmings and Grah Pravesh in Malayali homes.
