How it is used

Five to seven leaves are placed on the idol or in the thali during aarti. A single leaf finishes the charanamrit and the panchamrit, and one is set on top of every bhog before it is offered to Ladoo Gopal. Tulsi is central to Ekadashi observance, Satyanarayan puja, Janmashtami and Tulsi Vivah.

By tradition tulsi is not picked on Ekadashi or after dark, so families keep a few leaves aside from the previous day for those occasions.

Keeping them fresh

Wrap the leaves loosely in a slightly damp cloth and keep them in a perforated bag in the fridge. Handled this way they hold their colour and scent for two to three days. Do not seal them airtight, and do not freeze.

Are these fresh leaves or dried?

Is this Rama tulsi or Krishna tulsi?

The batch varies with what is picked that week. Both are offered in worship and neither is considered superior. Message us on WhatsApp if you need a specific variety and we will tell you what is in the current batch.

Can tulsi leaves be reused?

A tulsi leaf offered at the altar may be rinsed and offered again, and many families keep the same few leaves through several days of worship. This is one of the few offerings where that is accepted practice.

Why should tulsi not be picked on Ekadashi?

Tulsi is honoured as a goddess in her own right and Ekadashi is her day of rest, so leaves for that day are picked in advance. The same reasoning applies to picking after sunset.

Can I use these leaves in food or tea?

They are fresh, food grade holy basil, so yes with normal food handling. They are stocked here for ritual use and the pack size is built around aarti and prasad.

Do you deliver tulsi outside Dubai?

Yes, across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman. Dubai is fastest. For the other emirates, order a day earlier so the leaves arrive fresh.
