Twenty one fresh mango leaves, hand picked and cut to order. Twenty one is the count families actually use, because five to seven leaves sit in the mouth of the kalash and the rest go into the toran above the door. Ordering by the ritual count rather than by a round number means you are not left short on the morning of the puja.

How it is used

Five, seven or eleven leaves are set into the neck of the kalash with the coconut resting on top, for Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri ghat sthapana, Satyanarayan puja and grah pravesh. The remainder are threaded or tied into a toran and hung above the main door, where mango leaves have marked an auspicious threshold for generations.

Mango leaves pair naturally with marigold. Alternating a leaf and a flower head along the thread gives the classic green and orange toran.

Keeping them fresh

Wrap the leaves in a slightly damp cloth and keep them in a perforated bag in the fridge. Used this way they stay pliable for three to five days. Do not freeze, as freezing makes the leaf brittle and it will crack when you bend it.

How many mango leaves do I need for a kalash?

Five, seven or eleven, depending on family custom. All three are common and all three are correct. A pack of 21 covers the kalash and leaves enough for a door toran.

Are these leaves fresh or dried?

Fresh. They are cut on the day of dispatch and arrive green and flexible, which is what a toran needs. We do not sell dried mango leaves.

How long before the puja should I order?

One to two days ahead is ideal. Put the puja date in the order notes and we will time the cut to it rather than sending from what is already packed.

Can I use mango leaves for Ganesh Chaturthi?

Yes. Mango leaves go into the kalash beside the Ganpati murti and into the toran above the door, and they are among the first things families set up before the idol arrives home.

Will the leaves fit a toran across a wide doorway?

One pack of 21 makes a toran for a standard apartment doorway. For a wide entrance or a mandap, order two packs, or message us on WhatsApp and we will put a larger batch together.

Do you deliver mango leaves outside Dubai?

Yes, across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman. Dubai is the fastest. For the other emirates, order a day earlier.

Can I keep the leaves after the puja?

They will dry naturally on the toran and many families leave them in place until the next festival. Once dry they are usually immersed or returned to a plant rather than binned.
