Vat Savitri Vrat 2027 falls on Friday, 4 June 2027 for families following the North Indian (Amavasya) calendar, and on Friday, 18 June 2027 for those following the Maharashtra, Gujarat and South Indian (Purnima) calendar. In Dubai and across the UAE, the Amavasya tithi runs from 2:35 AM to 11:39 PM on 4 June, and the Purnima tithi from 3:04 AM on 18 June to 4:43 AM on 19 June. All timings on this page are UAE local time, read for Dubai, and they can differ from Indian listings.
Vat Savitri Vrat is observed by married women who fast and worship the banyan (vat) tree, remembering the devotion of Savitri to her husband Satyavan. Both Fridays fall in the UAE working week, so it helps to plan the morning puja ahead of time.

Which Vat Savitri Date Should You Follow?
The two dates are 14 days apart because of the two lunar calendars. The Purnimanta calendar, followed in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab and Haryana, observes the vrat on Jyeshtha Amavasya. The Amanta calendar, followed in Maharashtra, Gujarat and the southern states, observes it on Jyeshtha Purnima, where it is also called Vat Purnima.
The legend is the same in both. Choose the date that matches your family tradition, and if you are unsure, ask the elders of your family which one they have always kept.

FAQ
When is Vat Savitri Vrat in 2027?
Vat Savitri Vrat falls on Friday, 4 June 2027 on the Amavasya calendar and on Friday, 18 June 2027 on the Purnima calendar, which is also called Vat Purnima. Follow the date your family tradition uses.
What is the Vat Savitri puja timing in Dubai?
On 4 June 2027 the Amavasya tithi runs from 2:35 AM to 11:39 PM in Dubai, and on 18 June 2027 the Purnima tithi runs from 3:04 AM to 4:43 AM on 19 June. The same timings serve Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman, which differ from Dubai by only a few minutes.
Why do UAE timings differ from Indian listings?
Tithi is calculated against local sunrise, and the UAE is 90 minutes behind Indian Standard Time. A time taken from an Indian source can therefore be out by around an hour and a half for a family in Dubai.
How do we observe Vat Savitri Vrat in the UAE without a banyan tree?
Many women keep an image of a banyan tree or a small vat sapling at home and perform the puja before it. The prayer, the mauli thread and the story matter more than the tree itself.
What is the story of Savitri and Satyavan?
Savitri chose Satyavan as her husband although she knew his life would be short. When Yama, the lord of death, came for him, her devotion and wise words moved Yama to return Satyavan to life, and she is remembered as a model of devotion.
Can I fast if I work a full day in the UAE?
Many women keep a lighter fast, taking fruit and water, or observe a half-day vrat and break the fast after the evening puja. Follow your family custom and listen to your own body, and ask your elders or a pandit if you are unsure.
What should I keep on the puja thali?
A typical thali holds sindoor, haldi, kumkum, rice, flowers, incense, a lamp, fruit and a mauli thread. Keep the offerings simple and fresh, since sincerity matters more than quantity.
