Hanuman Jayanti 2027 in the UAE: Tuesday 20 April Date, Timing and Puja Vidhi

Hanuman Jayanti 2027 - Lord Hanuman seated in blessing pose holding his gada - Divine Sansar

Hanuman Jayanti 2027 falls on Tuesday, 20 April 2027, and in Dubai the Purnima tithi runs from 3:21 AM on 20 April to 2:26 AM on 21 April. Because the tithi is already running at sunrise, the whole of 20 April is Hanuman Jayanti. It is also a Tuesday, the day traditionally given to Lord Hanuman, which makes it a particularly loved date.

Every time on this page is Gulf Standard Time for Dubai, and it holds for Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman within a few minutes. Indian panchang apps show times about an hour and a half later on the clock, so use the UAE figures here when you plan your morning.

What is Hanuman Jayanti?

Hanuman Jayanti marks the birth of Lord Hanuman, the son of Anjana and Kesari and the devoted servant of Lord Rama. He is remembered for strength, courage, humility and unshakeable devotion. In most of North India the festival is kept on Chaitra Purnima, which is the date this guide follows.

Some regions keep Hanuman Jayanti on other dates, for example Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the month of Margashirsha and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the Vaishakha period. If your family follows one of those traditions, keep to your own date. The 20 April date here is the Chaitra Purnima observance.

Hanuman Jayanti puja vidhi at home

Begin on the morning of 20 April, after the Purnima tithi has begun at 3:21 AM. Many devotees rise before sunrise, bathe and keep the day simple and calm.

  1. Clean the puja space and spread a clean red or orange cloth. Place an image or idol of Lord Hanuman, ideally facing east.
  2. Light a ghee or sesame oil lamp and an incense stick.
  3. Offer red or yellow flowers, and apply a little sindoor mixed with oil, which is the traditional offering to Hanuman.
  4. Offer simple naivedyam such as boondi laddu, jaggery with roasted gram, or fruit.
  5. Recite the Hanuman Chalisa, or the Sundarkand if you have time. Even a single calm recitation is a complete offering.
  6. Finish with the Hanuman aarti, then share the prasad with the family.

Your family or community tradition always comes first. The steps above are a common home format, and they are easy to keep in a UAE apartment.

Chalisa, Sundarkand and Tuesday devotion

The Hanuman Chalisa is the most loved offering of the day, and our guide to chanting the Hanuman Chalisa daily explains how to build a steady habit. If you keep Tuesdays as a day of devotion, read Tuesday fasting and Lord Hanuman. For a deeper practice, see five Hanuman mantras. These practices are devotion and reflection, an act of aligning your energy with courage and calm intention.

Hanuman Jayanti in the UAE

Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman have large Hanuman devotee communities, and Tuesday evenings are traditionally a time for Hanuman Chalisa gatherings at home and in community groups. Ask your local satsang or temple for its plans, as programmes vary from year to year. For temple locations and visiting information, see our guide to Hindu temples in the UAE.

Tuesday is a working day. The tithi starts at 3:21 AM, so you can do a short morning puja with sindoor, a lamp and one recitation of the Chalisa before work, and hold a longer reading or aarti with the family in the evening. A calm short puja is better than a rushed long one.

Flowers and prasad. Red and yellow flowers are easy to find at florists and Indian grocery stores across the Emirates. Boondi laddu is sold at most Indian sweet shops, or you can make a simple jaggery and roasted gram offering at home.

Lamps and incense in apartments. Use a small diya on a metal plate, keep it away from curtains, and check your building rules on open flames and incense. Camphor aarti is brief and easy to manage in a flat.

Frequently asked questions

When is Hanuman Jayanti 2027 in the UAE?

Tuesday, 20 April 2027. The Purnima tithi runs from 3:21 AM on 20 April to 2:26 AM on 21 April in Dubai, so the whole of 20 April is Hanuman Jayanti.

Why does the date differ from Indian listings?

Tithi timings are calculated against local sunrise, and Gulf Standard Time is an hour and a half behind India. A time taken from an Indian listing will not match the UAE window, so use the Dubai figures given here.

Do the timings change for Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or Ajman?

Only by a few minutes. The Dubai figure is the one to follow across the UAE.

What is the best time for Hanuman Jayanti puja?

The Purnima tithi is running from 3:21 AM on 20 April, so a morning puja after sunrise falls within it. Many families also do an evening aarti with Chalisa recitation. Follow your own family tradition for the exact hour.

Why is Hanuman worshipped with sindoor?

A well-known story tells that Hanuman applied sindoor over his whole body to honour Lord Rama, so orange sindoor mixed with oil has become the traditional offering to him.

Can I keep Hanuman Jayanti at home in a UAE apartment?

Yes. A clean corner, a lamp, sindoor, flowers and a recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa are enough. Keep flames small and follow your building rules.

Is Hanuman Jayanti the same date everywhere?

No. North Indian tradition keeps it on Chaitra Purnima, as in this guide, while some southern traditions observe it on other dates. Follow your family or community custom.

What should I offer to Lord Hanuman?

Common offerings are sindoor, red or yellow flowers, boondi laddu, jaggery with roasted gram, fruit and a lamp. The sincerity of the offering matters more than its size.
