Masik Shivratri: A Sacred Observance

The Distinction Between Maha and Masik Shivratri

There are two distinct auspicious days in Hinduism: Masik Shivratri and Maha Shivratri. Masik Shivratri, also called Masa Shivratri in the Krishna Paksha, is the name given to the 14th lunar phase months.

In accordance with the Purnimant Panchang, the Masik Shivratri in the month of Phalguna is also known as Maha Shivratri. A Masik Shivratri that arrives in the month of Phalgun is also known as Maha Shivratri, according to the Amavasya Panchang. Maha Shivratri 2024 is being observed on Friday, March 08, 2024.
