Ingredients for the preparation of Kheer
- 2 liters of whole milk
- 1 cup of Basmati rice
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 tsp of green cardamom powder
- 2 tbsp of chopped almonds, cashew, raisins and pistachios (optional)
Instructions for rice kheer
- Rinse the rice several times in water until the water runs clear.
- Bring the milk to a boil over medium heat in a large pot.
- Once the milk is boiling, reduce the heat to low and add the rinsed rice to the pot.
- Cook the rice in the milk for 15-20 minutes, occasionally stirring, until the rice is cooked and the mixture thickens.
