Origin of Radha Ashtami
As per “Vishnu Khanda ” of the “Skanda Purana,” when lord Vishnu came to earth as lord Krishna, he had around 16000 gopis. Among the gopis, goddess Radha was the most favorite and prominent gopi. As per the Hindu calendar, Radha Rani was born on the eighth day of the bright full moon of Shukla Paksha of the month Bhadra in the place named Baesana. Barsana is in Uttar Pradesh in India. Goddess Radha Rani was found on the lotus, which was given in the pond. The pond was of Vrishbhanu, and his wife’s name was Kirtida. Per the mythology, Radha Rani was not opening her eyes until she saw lord Krishna.
